OUr Stories

Steve is a proud husband, devoted father of three daughters, and a man in long-term recovery since 2017. His personal journey fuels a deep commitment to helping other men reclaim their lives, reconnect with their families, and rediscover their strength. As the Founder of StrongMind, Steve has created a movement that empowers men to break cycles of addiction, violence, shame and step back into leadership as fathers, partners, and community members.

With over a decade of frontline experience in alcohol and other drugs (AOD), mental health, and men’s wellbeing, Steve has led operations in residential rehabs, psychiatric facilities, and community-based programs. He offers both group-based interventions and tailored 1-on-1 support, meeting men where they’re at with practical, trauma-informed care. His work spans rural and remote communities, correctional settings, and high-risk populations—always grounded in cultural safety and emotional integrity.

StrongMind delivers immersive healing camps, short-format intensives, and flexible community forums designed to fit real lives. Steve partners with organisations, corrections, and community leaders to co-design strengths-based, outcome-driven models of care. Whether mentoring frontline workers or sitting counselling men who’ve lost everything, Steve brings strategic insight, emotional intelligence, and grounded leadership to every space he enters.

Azza's style is real and down-to-earth. He draws from both lived experience and years working on the frontline and in leadership roles. He has led residential AOD programs, worked closely with individuals, and run powerful group sessions that help men connect, reflect, and grow. He's known for creating a safe space where honest, no-nonsense conversations can happen—whether it's about addiction, recovery, or life's everyday struggles.

Alongside his group work, Azza offers 1:1 support that’s just as grounded and impactful. These sessions give men a chance to slow down, speak freely, and get tailored guidance in a space that’s calm, confidential, and judgment-free. Whether someone’s navigating early recovery, dealing with family pressures, or just needing a solid sounding board, Azza meets them where they’re at—with care, clarity, and zero fluff.

Azza also leads StrongMind’s immersive companion work—walking alongside men through key moments of their healing journey. Whether it’s a first detox, a tough family visit, or just a day when things feel heavy, he’s there in person, offering calm presence, emotional safety, and practical support. It’s not therapy, and it’s not babysitting—it’s real-time, shoulder-to-shoulder care that helps men stay grounded, regulated, and connected when it matters most.

His workshops, 1:1s, and companion work blend emotional regulation, mindfulness, addiction education, and open discussion—giving men the tools to check in, reset, and reconnect with themselves. Azza brings calm, care, and solid leadership to every space he steps into.

We're lucky to have him on board, helping support the men in our rural and remote programs as they step into healing, strength, and community.
